Selfie with my very own Christmas Tree, which is sitting on my elephant side-tabley thing, named Lulu. Lulu is very excited to have this special responsibility and is not looking forward to whenever I take my tree down, likely sometime in April.
When my sister got married in 2008, my duties as maid of honor sucked me into levels of wedding details I didn’t know existed. That’s when I truly became obsessed with flowers. I would go to weddings and sigh over inspired centerpieces, ogle magazine spreads flooded with gorgeous bouquets, and scroll through endless Pinterest boards, littered with artistic arrangements. All I could think was, why can’t I buy these anywhere?

And thus, Thorn & Thistle was born. After spending time as a floral designer, I’ve gained some key insights about the flower industry.
  1. Most flower designs haven’t changed since... forever.
  2. Grocery store flowers are more convenient, but die quickly and are generally uninspired.
  3. Delivery fees!
  4. Good quality flowers are expensive.

With Thorn & Thistle, I’m turning the flower shop business model upside down by offering freshly-made, cutting edge arrangements that are small, affordable, and right at your local farmer’s market. I hope to inspire with these arrangements and eventually, turn Thorn & Thistle into a thriving, full time, local business.
